RICHMOND NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER-Snuggle Bug

I got along with this little guy VERY well! His mom had a bit of a rough time after this little trouble maker made his entrance so we had to postpone and I didn’t expect him to be very sleepy since he was 2 weeks old already. I was pleasantly surprised though and he only really woke up to feed. I probably could have played around taking photos of him all day, but I’m pretty sure his mom and dad were going to have to go home at some point haha! I usually find that calm parents=calm babies and these two had the whole parenting thing down to a science already. He is very lucky to have them and I am very lucky to have met the whole family. Thanks guys!

Disclaimer: For any new photographers out there, please do not attempt any shots like this unless you are properly trained to do so. This baby is about 6″ over a large beanbag and his parents were instructed to put him down if he moved AT. ALL. This is not something that should be done without extreme care even if you have cushioning under the baby. Safety first!

NORTH VANCOUVER PHOTOGRAPHER-Early Bird

This little man came to my studio for his newborn session on Thursday morning. Normally I recommend getting newborns in to see me before they are 10 days old because they are still really sleepy the younger they are. Preemies have a little wiggle room for that so I tend to go by their corrected age. Well this cutie was well with in that time frame and came in to see me well before his due date which was September 29th! He was so healthy and STRONG already! At only 6lbs his strength when he would try to hold up his head or wiggle around while I tried to pose him was incredible for any newborn, let alone a premature one! His mom and dad were so calm and at ease with their new bundle I just new our session would be easy, and I was right. He barely made a peep the whole time and was happy to just sleep while I moved him around for his photos with the occasional feed from mom. I can’t really say there are many days where I don’t love my job but this sweetheart just made me REALLY love my job on Thursday morning, what could be better than snuggling with a tiny little newborn right?

I got at least two ADORABLE smiles out of him too!

I just love the father and son shot…the strength of a dad’s arms holding such a delicate baby melts my heart every time!

A Princess With Her Pup

You may remember this family from the maternity session I did with them a little over a month ago.  They came back today for their newborn session and their new little girl is just BEAUTIFUL!  They actually had the patience to wait to find out the gender until she was born which is not too common these days.  I had a feeling though as it seems we’re heading into “girl season” that we’d have a little pink bundle of joy on the way and sure enough born 7 days ago was this little girly!  She was a dream to work with and her mom and dad even included their firstborn “furbaby” in the session.  I love working with pets and people so it was such a fun day to be able to combine my passions into one sweet little package.  I also got to use a hat designed by Ewa from Mamique Designs I’ve had stored away in hiding for half a year now!  Thanks so much for coming by today with your perfect little angel and I hope you enjoy your preview!

Welcome to another little boy!

One of my best friends and her hubby came over today with their new little bundle of joy! I have photos of her maternity and birth in previous entries on my blog. He was such an angel for his first official “photoshoot” and we got some really different shots today. Ewa of Mamique Designs

made the tushie wrap and hat set for him and it fit him PERFECTLY! Keep an eye out for this little man as I’m sure we’ll be doing plenty of photos of this cutie patootie as he grows! Thanks for coming by guys!

Another Newbie!

After all the wedding fun I had at my friend’s wedding over the weekend it was time to get back to “work” (when you love your job it never feels like real work haha!). It took a little while for this little lady to warm up to the camera but once she did she was quite the poser! She was so sweet giving her new little brother kisses and requesting payment in M&M’s for her work…she already knows how to make a deal haha! Thanks for being patient with me guys! These two ages can be hard but I think we pulled it off!

9 months old today!

I did my “9 month birthday” photoshoot with my little girl today! She’s getting harder and harder to work with since she’s very much into moving these days, but luckily with my husband here to lend a hand we got a few decent shots. We even got one of her in her indian outfit she wore to my friend’s wedding that I was in over the weekend!

We had another important “birthday” recently too. My gorgeous friend who’s maternity I posted a little while ago had her baby boy on June 27th at 12:06am and I was there to take photos of his birth. Unfortunately he was as stubborn as his mommy and they had to bring in the forceps to get him out so I was only able to be there afterwards. I was so happy to be there and meet him. CONGRATS mom and dad! Stay tuned for his newborn photos coming soon!

“Moving Day”

This little girl was on the move…in more ways than one! I got together with a family who will be moving this week and wanted some photos of their sweet baby girl’s first house. We had better luck outdoors since this little lady was on the go today, but managed to get a couple of family photos inside. Some days are harder than others when you’re 17 months old and teething so we might have to get together again on a happier day if we can coordinate it! Luckily this sweetie has her puppy dog “Mimi” to keep her company on the tough days and she is so proud that she knows how to hold the leash all by herself. Thanks guys for having me over. You’re little girl is a real sweetheart and I hope she’s feeling better quickly!

Ella is 8 months old!!!

She decided to celebrate by climbing out of her crib the morning she turned 8 months! SCARY! She was thankfully okay but gave me quite a fright and we have since lowered the crib…that is one determined kiddo! The little bloomers were made by Bella Claire Baby and the tutu was made by Hannah’s Tutus

I got a lot like this one…she was definitely on the move for most of our “session” this time hahaha!

“It’s a big world baby, and your little, for a little while”

I was so fortunate to get to hang out with this little man and his mom and dad today. I went to high school with his mommy and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this tiny little peanut! Born weighing 6lbs 2oz. He’s definitely the smallest newborn I’ve ever worked with, but there’s a lot of personality in that tiny little package. I got my title for this blog from a song written by Renee & Jeremy that just seemed to fit so perfectly with him, coming in such a tiny little package! Thanks so much for coming by today guys and I can’t wait to get to editing the rest of your photos soon!

I have to also give a VERY special thank you to Ewa of Mamique Designs who joined us at the session to take some photos for her own portfolio and to try out some of her new goodies! She designed and knit the green hat shown here (I knit the blue and brown one myself and I’m pretty proud of myself haha!).

I sold my very first gift certificate over the weekend so I took a photo to show you all what you can expect when you order a gift certificate from Ashleigh Wells Photography. The gift certificate comes sealed in a brown envelope along with a matching “menu” in a matching brown folder to inform the recipient of what is included in the package that is purchased for them. I also finish it off by tying it all together with a beautiful, coordinating ribbon so there is no gift wrapping necessary, it’s all done for you!

My sample canvas arrived in the mail today and I am in LOVE! If anyone is interested in ordering, my prices for canvases start at $100. All of my canvases include a waterproof, UV coating. Canvas is a unique presenation option that allows you to order your photo in ready to hang condition. The back is covered with paper and has a wire installed for easy hanging.
